Horror Film The Strangers Real-life Inspiration in Documentary

Did you see the summer horror flick, The Strangers? Me neither. But apparently, quite a few of you did.

The film's advertisements trumpeted the fact that the film was based on a true story. Since I almost never go to the theater anymore I did not invest any time in learning more about the film or its alleged inspiration.

Well, now I have learned more about the real story and, needless to say, I am looking forward to catching the feature film when it hits DVD soon.

The story of a mother, one of her daughters, her son, and her son's friend who were all murdered in a remote cabin in 1981 is also the subject of a documentary film entitled Cabin 28: The Keddie Murders.

According to the San Jose Mercury News filmmaker Josh Hamilton (pictured far right) started this project off as an assignment he gave to his students at Westmont High School. He agreed to make his own documentary along with his students.
