Ellen Page and An American Crime Set for Showtime

Back in February, I mentioned that the movie about Sylvia Likens, An American Crime, would debut on Showtime before its DVD release. The date has been officially set for May 10 on the apparent successor to HBO's reigning crown of quality television.

The film stars Oscar nominee Ellen Page (pictured left) as Sylvia Likens, a young girl who is tortured by her family's neighbor, played by Catherine Keener. It is based on a true story.

There had been talk of a theatrical release hot on the heels of Page's success in the teen pregnancy film, Juno, however, those plans have been scrapped.

Another film based on the case, Jack Ketchum's The Girl Next Door, is already available on DVD.
