DIY Author Spotlight: Barbara Lunsford's Killer for Hire

We here at BOTS (meaning me) fully support do-it-yourself authors and publishers. Sometimes, some of the best work has not yet been discovered by the major publishing houses. That does not mean the work is not worthy. Give smaller publishing houses, vanity presses, and DIY authors a chance.

Here's a new one from Corpus Christi, Texas resident Barbara Lunsford (pictured left) entitled Killer for Hire: The Final Chapter of the Alabama Twins Murder Case, released via Lunsford's own Mystery Crime Scene imprint.

According to Lunsford's press release, Killer for Hire is the true story of "Alabama socialite Betty Wilson was sentenced to life in prison, accused of hiring a hit man to kill her husband, a wealthy and well-known Huntsville doctor." Lunsford's take on the case is that Wilson is innocent and was wrongfully convicted.

There is also a website for Wilson where you can learn more about her case, read trial transcripts, sign a petition, and more.

I have not read Lunsford's book, however, I am all for supporting up-and-coming true crime authors. Plus, she's from Texas.
