Murdered Mom Memoir Scores Lambda Nom

According to Yahoo! News, the Lambda Literary Awards, which honors the best books in Lesbian/Gay/Bisexual/Transgender literature, has one nominee from the world of true crime. Forgiving Troy: The Art-O-Biography by Thom Bierdz was nominated for Best Men's Memoir/Biography for 2007.

The following quote from Bierdz describes his book: "In 1989, my brother beat our mother to death with a baseball bat. This book is a record in words and images of my need to understand why she was murdered. The search was debilitating and caused me to doubt my own sanity."

The Lambdas will be held at the Pacific Design Center (AKA "The Blue Whale") in West Hollywood on May 29, 2008.

BOTS wishes Bierdz the best of luck.
